Linear Electro-Optical Interface: Standardization, Design Principles & Silicon Correlation

August 23 @ 8:00 am - 10:00 am UTC+0

Presenter Names: Priyank Shukla and Ruben Sousa (Synopsys)

Abstracts: This tutorial delves into the world of 112G/224G linear electro-optical links, a rapidly growing technology for next-generation PCIe and Ethernet standards. We’ll explore the motivations behind this shift, providing a clear understanding of the benefits of linear electro-optical interfaces. The tutorial dives into the ongoing standardization efforts for enabling these 112G links, equipping attendees with the knowledge to navigate this evolving landscape. We’ll then delve into the specific implications of linear specifications on various stakeholders within the industry. This includes electrical SerDes designers, optical component designers, and system integrators, ensuring everyone is up-to-speed on the technical considerations. Finally, the tutorial will share insights from our silicon implementation and design correlation for 112G electro-optical interfaces. This practical knowledge will be instrumental for those looking to build, integrate, or deploy these systems.

Bios: Priyank Shukla is the Principal Product Manager of Interface IPs at Synopsys Inc., overseeing a diverse portfolio including 112G/224G high-speed SerDes, 400G/800G/1.6TbE Ethernet, and PCIe5-7 technologies. With extensive expertise in 112G/224G linear/non-retimed electro-optical interfaces, he specializes in Ultra Accelerator Link and Ultra Ethernet technologies. Priyank contributes to industry standards as an IEEE 802.3 Working Group Voter, particularly in the IEEE 802.3dj/df task forces. His broad experience spans analog and mixed-signal design, with a strong focus on high-performance computing, mobile, and automotive SoCs. Priyank’s innovative work has resulted in a U.S. patent for low-power RTC design. He holds a degree in electrical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology-Madras.
